Investigations continue after armed pub raid

Gardaí in Galway are still appealing for witnesses after an early hours armed rain on a pub in the city on Monday.

The armed gang followed the manager of An Púcan home, before tying him up, along with five housemates.

The bar manager returned to his home at around 3am after locking up the pub. But when he opened the door after a late night knock, three masked men bundled him inside.

They took the keys to the city centre pub, entered, and made off with a sum believed to be in the region of €30,000.

He and five other adults were tied up while the gang, armed with a shotgun and a machete, left for the pub. The captives managed to raise the alarm at around 5.30am. Gardaí in Mill Street confirmed last night that they are still appealing for witnesses and hope there will be a break in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí on 091-538000.
