Man pleads guilty to supplying cannabis at railway station

A 37-year-old man has pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis to others at Galway Railway Station nearly 10 years ago, following his appearance before Galway Circuit Criminal Court last week.

David Manning, from Ballyeighter, Aughrim, Ballinasloe, pleaded guilty to having cannabis herb in his possession which was for sale or supply to another on August 23, 1999, at Ceannt Railway Station, Galway.

Defence barrister John Kiely said his client needed an opportunity to provide urine test results to the court. He also made a request that a probation report be furnished to the court prior to sentencing.

Judge Raymond Groarke directed the preparation of a probation report but he said the matter of providing urine test results was up to the accused. He adjourned the matter to January 13 next, to fix a date for sentencing
