Swinford Agriculture Show
The 27th Swinford Agriculture Show will take place on Saturday, August 15 on the Heeran Farm on the Kiltimagh Road. The show will be launched  by Cllr Michael Holmes, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council next Tuesday, July 21 at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel in Swinford.

Community walking programme in Charlestown
Mayo Sports Partnership is promoting locally a Charlestown Walking Group to actively encourage family, friends, neighbours to get walking. All are welcome to join. The group will meet at CBD Sports Complex at 8.30pm on Mondays with the aim of forming a walking club. Funding is in place to develop a walking trail in the town catchment area at Bachelors Walk.

Independents Day in Mayo County Council

While those in the United States will be celebrating Independence Day tomorrow, it was 'Independents Day' in the chamber of Mayo County Council last Monday, when Independent councillor Michael Holmes was elected as the Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council for the next 12 months. Cllr Holmes' election to the role of first citizen of the county came about through a post election pact by the 10 Fianna Fáil councillors in the council and five of the independent councillors who were elected last June.
