Fri, Oct 14, 2011

Le tírdreach álainn an dá oileáin mar chúlra ag an gclár, tabharfaidh an clár deiridh seo sa t-sraith Ceol na nOileán léargas ar an tradisiún láidir boscadóireachta agus amhránaíochta atá ar an dá oileán. Beidh na boscadóirí cáiliúla as Cliara, Billy Gallagher agus Michael McNamara le feiceáil ar an gclár maraon le clan ceolmhar O’Toole as Inis Tuirc. Tabharfaidh amhráin ó Myles Ruddy, Anne O’Toole agus Patrick O’Toole léargas ar an tradisiún láidir amhránaíocht dúchasach atá ar an dá oileán. Léireoidh amhrán de chuid Niall McCabe an chaoi go bhfuil an tradisiún cumadóireachta sin beo i measc glúin óg an lae inniu.

Is sraith nuálach é Ceol na nOileán a thugann léargas ar an stair a bhaineann le traidisiún ceoil agus siamsaíochta oileáin faoi leith thart ar an gcósta, an chaoi ar fhorbair an tradisiún sin i rith na mblianta agus an staid ina bhfuil sé inniu. Tá an tírdreach sonrach a bhaineann le gach oileán mar eilimint ghníomhach i ngach clár agus taispeántar íomhanna tarraingteacha ó thimpeallacht an oileáin le cur le mothúcháin an phíosa ceoil nó an amhráin atá faoi chaibidil.

Mayo property market will be slow to recover

Fri, Oct 14, 2011

There was more bad news for people trying to sell property in Mayo earlier this week, according to journalist Richard Curran’s RTÉ documentary Property Crash - Where To Now? He highlighted Mayo as being one of the areas that would be slow to recover from the current property market downturn. He cited from his research that Mayo had a large oversupply of new and secondhand homes and that, going on current trends, there was not expected to be a population increase demanding a major increase in supply. This news concurred with the most recent Daft.ie House Price Report, and does not paint a good picture as to the state of the property market in the county.
