To coincide with the launch of the latest Bond movie later this month, the transition year students of St Joseph’s Secondary School, Charlestown, will host an extravagant Bond themed fashion show in the CBD Complex, Charlestown, on Thursday, October 25 at 8pm.

Blacksod and Broadhaven Bays to be saved from sewage discharge

The long awaited construction of a wastewater treatment plant and wastewater pumping station in Belmullet moved a step closer this week with the approval of the Part 8 planning by the members of the Belmullet Electoral Area Committee. The planning for this scheme has gone as far back as 1994 and it has taken this long to come to the planning stage. The existing wastewater collection network in the area dates back to 1957 and is currently discharging untreated waste into both Blacksod Bay and Broadhaven Bay.

Refurbishment of convent will not be finished before 2014

Councillor Margaret Adams said that she was disappointed that the refurbishment project of the former Convent of Mercy in Westport — where the town’s civic offices are planned to relocate to — will be not be completed sooner then mid-2014.
