A six-year-old girl who was knocked down by a car in Mulranny last Saturday morning (April 23) has been released from intensive care in Mayo General Hospital and is recovering well.

A 10-year-old, who was also hit by the car, was released from hospital the day after the accident.

Exciting new Irish summer college ready for enrolments

Coláiste Néifinn is a newly founded Irish summer college in west Mayo for 12 to 15-year-olds. This college aims to bring life to our native language outside the Gaeltacht. The co-ordinators are two Irish teachers from west Mayo who have both been teaching Irish for nearly 10 years. They also have taught in several Gaeltacht colleges, so they can bring a lot of experience to Coláiste Néifinn in Castlebar.

Disqualification for Castlebar woman with no insurance

A Castlebar woman who pleaded guilty to driving without insurance was given a one year driving disqualification and fined €600 in Claremorris District Court this week. Regina Phelan of 14 Aglish Estate, Castlebar was stopped by Garda Emma Conneely at Brize, Claremorris on November 11 2010 and was demanded to produce her insurance at a Garda Station of her choice within ten days, which she failed to do. Phelan pleaded guilty to the charge in court.

No on-street car parking charges for Westport
