At the start of 2023 Mayo Sports Partnership partnered with Triathlon Ireland to roll out Tri Heroes within schools in Mayo. Tri Heroes teaches primary and secondary school pupils of all ages and abilities cycling, running and where facilities allow – swimming.
The programme has been designed by Triathlon Ireland to be both fun and challenging; and can be run as part of a school’s curriculum or as an after-school activity.

We have all been to an Irish Pub somewhere in the world. Some are authentic—you could be in Castlebar or Bohola, others less so. La Gitane is a friendly bar in Bayeux that serves nice Guinness. Leaving there one evening last summer, I looked back to see a faded sign on the canopy above the door with the words ‘Irish Bar.’ I would never have guessed.
