Four Celtic girls called up for international duty

Republic of Ireland senior coach Sue Ronan has called up Emma Mullen, Castlebar Celtic, to the Irish Women’s Senior Squad to play in the Algarve Cup.

The games will take place between February 29 and March 7. Teams from all over Europe will descend on Portugal for this competition.

Emma Hansberry, Carol Hegarty, and Jennifer Byrne all from Castlebar Celtic, have been called into the Republic of Ireland u19 squad to play in a double header in Austria from February 20 to 23.

Former Mayo youths players in Ireland squad

Two players named in The Republic of Ireland’s u18 squad that will take on Wales in Ferrycarrig Park in Wexford next Wednesday, February 15, are Mayo men. Both Conor O’Malley and Conor Byrne are playing with Galway based sides, but O’Malley is formerly of Westport United and Byrne used to line out for Kiltimagh/Knock United.

Referee beginners’ course

A referee beginners’ course will be held in Milebush Park, Castlebar, on Saturday and Sunday, February 25 and 26, from 10am to 4.30pm. A fee of €65 is payable at the start of the course. To register, or to find out more information about the course, contact Jimmy Blake at 086 0694918.

The Mayo referees’ branch is hoping to get a good response to this course and would make a special appeal to all clubs to inform their members who might be interested in taking up this course, also a special appeal to women who would like to become referees.

Ballinrobe Town AFC AGM

The AGM of Ballinrobe Town AFC will take place on Sunday, February 12, at 6pm sharp in the clubhouse at The Green. All members are requested to attend.

Castlebar Town registration

Castlebar Town registration will take place tomorrow, Saturday February 11, and Saturday February 18 at the clubhouse between 2pm and 4pm, fees for the season are €30 for u10s, €60 for u12 to u18 (€100 for two player families and €130 for three player families ). All new players are welcome.
