Festival organisers offering support to assault victim

The Rossport Solidarity Camp has issued a statement in relation to an alleged sexual assault which took place at the Party Against The Pipe festival at Aghoos in north Mayo.

The alleged assault took place between 11.30pm on June 4 and 3am on June 5.

The Rossport Solidarity Camp, which hosted the festival, said it was taking the matter very seriously and has been giving support to the woman involved. The camp is also co-operating fully with the Garda investigation, the statement outlined.

Gardaí in Belmullet are seeking the public’s assistance in relation to the investigation. A large number of people attended the festival and Gardaí are asking everybody who attended to make contact with them. Some people have already come forward and have been assisting with enquiries.
