In the New Years weekend Stableford competition sponsored by An Lochán Bar and Restaurant, Liam Lynskey playing off 17 was the winner with a score of 42pts. His scoring on the back six kept him ahead of second placed finisher David Murphy who also finished with a score of 42pts. In the ladies’ section Kung Fanning playing with a handicap of five was the winner with a score of 40pts.
In the Claremorris open Christmas competition Ger Noone was the winner with a score of 39pts, he held off the challenge of Pat Coyne who finished three points back in second place. Tony Todd was the third man home on the day also finishing on 36pts. In the club competition, Liam O’Connell was the winner scoring 36pts with Michael Lohan being held off to finish a close second.
In last weekend’s competition in the Carrowholly based club, Pat O’Donoghue was the winner of the gents’ end of year competition with a score of 36pts. Only two points back in second place was John F O’Malley on 34pts. In the New Year hamper competition Paddy O’Donohoe was the man to catch after he finished up with a score of 39pts to claim the win. It was all very tight after him though with Dave Newtwon taking second, Frank Hastings third, and John Mannion fourth after all three men finished on 36pts.
