‘Take me to court’ drunk man told gardaí

A drunk man who was involved in a row outside a nightclub and told gardaí to “take me to court, I don’t care” was before Ballina District Court this week.

In the early hours of February 7, gardaí received a report of a row in the lane way near Long Necks nightclub in Ballina. Two groups of people were observed to hold back two men. One of these men was Brian Quinn, Creggs Road, Ballina.

Quinn, who was intoxicated, was aggressive to the gardaí and tried to push past one of the gardaí and said, “What are you going to do about it?” When arrested, the defendant tried to resist getting into the garda van and tried to get away.

The 20-year-old supermarket worker, who has no previous convictions , was directed by Judge Mary Devins to contribute €300 to the Garda Benevolent Fund.
