Mayo sign-on register continues to grow

New Live Register figures released last Friday show there has been another increase in the number of people listed on the Live Register in the county.

The statistics from the CSO show that in June, 13,514 people were signing on, an increase of 575 from last month and an increase of 1,358 from the same month last year.

Of the 13,514, 8,812 were males (7,026 were over 25 ) and 4,702 were females (3,613 were over 25 ).

All towns in Mayo saw an increase, with Castlebar recording the biggest jump from 2,396 last month to 2,574 this month. The lowest increase was in Claremorris, which climbed from 1,337 last month to 1,362.

Ballina still has the highest signing-on rate with 3,269 registered, an increase from 3,188 last month.
