Belmullet/Kilmore Community Games

The Belmullet/Kilmore Community Games will take place this year on Sunday May 9 in Drum Community Pitch starting at 2pm. The perpetual cup in honour of Fr Declan Caulfield will be presented to the young Athlete of the Day who wins the most medals. All boys and girls under the age of 16 are encouraged to take part in the various events.

Castlebar Mitchels

This weeks Football results for Castlebar Mitchels saw the senior team beat Kiltimagh by 2-10 to 1-5 in division one B of the senior league, in division one f the u16 league Castlebar Mitchels saw off Ballaghaderreen by 3-17 to 1-4.

This week was a very difficult week for Castlebar Mitchels with the passing of three of the clubs members. Tony McHugh, club friend and club sponsor was laid to rest on Sunday afternoon. Many club members also paid tribute to Donie Murphy, former club president and coach who was also laid to rest on Sunday and Mick Ruane, former club player, coach and team manager who was laid to rest on Monday. The club would like to extend its sincere sympathies to the families and friends of Tony, Donie and Mick. During their life the contributed much to the club and they will be sincerely missed.

Planning is now underway for La na gClub which is due to take place on May 9. The club hopes to invite club members and members of the public who might like to find out more about Castlebar Mitchels to join us for La na gClub and take part in the activities that will take place at an Sportlann. More details will be available on the club website www.castlebarmitchels.com over the coming weeks - but you can mark that date into your diary.

Kiltimagh

Some of the biggest names in Gaelic football will be in the Park Hotel on Saturday May 8 for Kiltimagh GAA Club's Championship Forum. John O' Mahony, John Maughan, Brian Talty, Paidi O' Sé and Peter Ford will be in attendance to tell tales about their playing and managerial careers and give their views on team preparation, tactics and the Championship this summer. The evening will be compered by Martin Carney. Ideal night out for managers trainers or just anyone with an interest in Gaelic Football. Moytura Hurling Club

The U16 team played their first competitive game of the year last Friday against Westport and came out on top on a 6-10 to 0-2 scoreline. Strong performances from David Varley, Liam Noone and Shane O'Halloran along with goals from Keith Gibbons (three ), Cillian McHugh and Gary Golden led Moytura to the comfortable victory. This year is the first year that an U16 team has been fielded by the club, building on the back of the U14 side who participated at Feile na nGael last year. The Moytura U14 team overcame Castlebar Mitchels in the Feile na nGael Quarter Final recently on a 4-5 to 4-2 scoreline. It was a close battle all through, but Moytura goals from Aaron Killeen, Oisin Canney, Ronan O'Reilly and Evan Summerville gave Moytura the edge. Others to perform well were Ernan Flannery, Joey O'Connor and Paddy Doherty. Moytura: Joey O'Connor; Ian McMahon, Brendan Varley, Rory King; Paddy Doherty, Dara Deane, Micheal Varley; Ronan O'Reilly, Tomas Fahy; Ernan Flannery, Brendan Sheridan, Aaron Killeen; Adam Keady, Oisin Canney, Danny Gibbons.  U10 and U8 coaching continues from now every Friday from 6.30pm until 7.30pm in the Ballinrobe Community School pitch. Newcomers to hurling are welcomed. Contact Michael Varley (Coach ) for information on 087-2359755.

Go Games Play and Stay Competition in McHale Park.

 Bord na nOg are organising a Go Games Play and Stay competition for clubs in east and west Mayo in McHale Park, Castlebar on Saturday April 24 at 12pm. Teams of 11 a side will compete against each other. Clubs should email [email protected] with the number of teams they will have participating in the competition.

Manulla

Manulla FC Annual 5 a side: The Annual five a side was launched on Thursday April 15 in The Shamrock Bar. The competition takes place on Saturday and Sunday of the May Bank holiday weekend. Tennis

Tennis club fund raiser golf am/am

The Castlebar Tennis club annual fund raiser Golf am/am took place on April 17 and thirty nine teams participated. The competition was sponsored by Supervalu and the Credit Union and all the various tee sponsors. Amid the fabulous sun shine the winners had a fine score of 93 points. The winning team represented APM Securities comprised David Carney, Brian Carney, Seamus Kenny and Brian Mc Cormack. Second with a score of 92 points was Brendan Killion, Jerry King, Terry O’Hara and Michael Fahy. Third also with 92 points was Frank Murray, John Mc Hale, John Grant and Ian Brennan. The fourth team represented the Bank of Ireland and consisted of Pat Griffiths, Rory Curran, J.P. Bradley and Des Carney. The beat ladies team was Gina Kelly, Evylen Duggan, Emir Feerick and Carmel Moran.
