Additional €2.5m secured for Mayo Rural Water Programme

Ballina-based Minister for Labour Affairs Dara Calleary has confirmed that an additional €2.5 million has been made available to Mayo County Council under the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government’s Rural Water Programme.

The Minister with responsibility for the Rural Water Programme, Michael Finneran TD, confirmed the additional allocation to Minister Calleary this week.

“This is a significant allocation of top-up funding,” said Minister Calleary.

“It comes on the back of original grant aid of €12.3 million and will allow the local authority to pursue further planned water programmes in the county. I am particularly interested in the proposed water schemes at Kilmurry and Downpatrick and will be making strong representations to the council to move forward with both of these schemes,” said Minister Calleary.
