Balla

The stableford competition sponsored by Unit 7 was won by Pat Mohan with a score of 37, with his back nine play holding off Sean Canny into second place while third place was claimed by PJ Brett. The ladies' competition was won by Geraldine Kilgallon with a score of 35pts, second place went to Kathleen Minogue, with Helen Byrne finishing in third place. The stableford competition, sponsored by SuperValu, Castlebar, was claimed by Gus Heraty with a score of 37pts, second place went to Jim Rodgers and third place was claimed by Matt Leonardy; Sean Canny hit a hole-in-one on the eighth hole. The ladies' competition was won by Anne Marie Doherty with a score of 37pts, second place went to Kitty O'Connor, with Carmel Henry finishing in third place. The scramble competition sponsored by Paul Cunningham, Belcarra, was won by Gus Heraty, Marie Flanagan and Margaret Walsh; the scramble sponsored by the Clew Bat Bar and Restaurant was won by John Hyland, Mary B Prendergast and Jerry Henry.

Ballinrobe

The gents' fourball better ball competition was won by Rory Jennings and Pat McDonald with a score of 50pts. Second place went to Billy McGrath and Aidan Keane, the front nine prize was claimed by Tony O'Toole and Kevin Finnegan - the back nine win went to Denis Murphy and Norman Keane. The ladies' stableford was won by Gabrielle Clesham with a score of 44pts, the category winners were Louise Cribben, Rose Dooley and Mary Nalty. The front nine winner was Eileen Byrne and the back nine win went home with Antoinette O'Connor.

Castlebar

The ladies' 18-hole stableford was won by Una Lydon with a score of 39pts, she was followed home by Mary Casey-Cox in second place and third place went to Merlin Clarke with Kathleen Stewart in fourth place. The midweek competition was won by Mary Caulfield, with Kate Killalea coming home in second place, Edel Burke finished in third place and Nancy Rowland finished in fourth. The club nine hole qualifying competition was won by Mary Glynn with a score of 18pts, Amy Healy came home in second and third place went to Gina Kelly.

Claremorris

It was Lady Captains Day last weekend in Claremorris the winner of Emily McHugh's prize was Hannah Grant with a score of 68nett, second place went to Riana Kean with Kate Gallagher taking the gross prize and third place going to Nancy McHugh.The category 30+ prize went to Pat Dillon and Cora Judge took the past captains section win. The first nine win was claimed by Margaret Flannery with a score of 31 nett and Emma Prenty took the second nine win with a score of 34.5. The nine hole competition was won by Cathy Timmins with a score of 18pts and second place went to Mary Gallagher. The beginners competition was won by Margaret Diskin and Breda Kilkenny came home in second place, the juniors prize was won by Maeve Golden with Ronnie Foley in second place. Una Clarke hit a hole-in-one on the second hole during the competition.

Mulranny

The Jack O’Sullivan team made a successful start to the defence of their Connaught title with a narrow win over Belmullet. Wins at home by Fergus Rothwell/Paddy Chambers and Alan McAdam/Denis Gallagher, together with a vital away point by Eugene McCormack/Eamon Mongan, ensured Mulranny advanced to round two. The draw for the Autumn Cup singles match play championship, sponsored by Golfstyle, Galway, is posted in the clubhouse and on Mulranny Whatsapp. Captain’s prize winner, Vinny Feeney, has overtaken long time leader, Clive Pullen in G.O.Y order of merit - a long way to go yet. John Gallagher had a hole-in-one on the sixth in a recent club fourball round two match. Next weekend’s stableford competition is sponsored by Stauntons Barbers, Castlebar and you may play from Friday through to Sunday.

Swinford

The ladies' competition was won by Margaret McNicholas with a round of 64, Patricia Feeney finished in second place and third place was claimed by Dympna O'Donnell. The gents' competition was claimed by Ronan Monaghan with a score of 41pts, second place was claimed by Sean Comer and third place went home with Shane Lacey.
