Kings of Connaught hold court at the Shearwater

The bright young things of Irish folk and ballad, The Kings of Connaught, are set to continue their upward trajectory with a show at the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe on March 17, followed by the release of their new single, Right All Right, this summer.

The powerful vocals and instrument work stand out on this infectious foot tapping track, which was recorded in Denis Allen Studio in Limerick. The track reveals a raw and exciting artistry that bodes well for their forthcoming album and promises much for their future.

The Kings grew up in Mountbellew, steeped in the tradition of Irish folk music. Their lineup features Liam O’Grady (vocals, 5 string banjo and guitar ), Mark Costello (vocals, long neck banjo and guitar ), Macdara Connolly (mandolin, tenor banjo, bass guitar and vocals ), Thomas Ryan (whistle, guitar ), and Michael Tully (piano accordion ). The band’s talent and youth appeal have caught the eye of the industry both at home and abroad.

The release of Right All Right, precedes an anticipated series of gigs around Ireland and beyond for the talented five-piece. The tour will see them bringing their high energy sets, accomplished playing and distinctive look to new audiences, and, based on past performances, will see them adding to their notable legion of young fans.

The Kings of Connaught have taken up the mantle of keeping alive our great heritage and culture of Irish ballads and are doing so with great success.
