Eleanor Shanley and John Feeley take to the stage at the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe, on Thursday, March 8, for a night of entertainment not to be missed.

With a career spanning more than 20 years, Eleanor Shanley is one of the most loved singers in our country’s folk music history and still possesses a voice as pure as the first day she stepped in front of a microphone with De Danann in 1990.

Renowned for her unique interpretation of Irish and roots songs, she has been at the top of her profession since her first appearance. She has recorded two critically acclaimed albums with De Danann with "A Jacket of Batteries" and "Half Set in Harlem" and has toured the globe as well as taking part in several tours of Ireland.

Eleanor has worked with The Dubliners, Sharon Shannon, Donal Lunny and U2 to name only a few. Her time working with Ronnie Drew saw them record two albums together, A Couple More Years and El Amor De Mi Vida.

John Feeley has been described by the Washington Post as 'Ireland's leading classical guitarist'. He has worked as a teacher at the American Institute of Guitar, Memphis State University, the Conservatory of Music, Dublin Institute of Technology, and currently teaches guitar at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He is also an adjunct professor of the Conservatory of Music and Drama, where he supervises PhD dissertations.

In addition to his solo and chamber music concerts, Feeley has performed with The American Symphony at Carnegie Hall, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Ulster Orchestra, and the Irish Chamber Orchestra, among others. He has won a number of prizes in international competitions and is a regular performer at many international guitar festivals, including the Walton's Guitar Festival of Ireland. He has also recorded with The Chieftains and famous Spanish soprano, Montserrat Caballes.

Feeley is also well known for his own delightful guitar arrangements of Irish music which appear on several of his many recordings.

This is truly a night of entertainment that you do not want to miss. Tickets cost €20 and can be purchased from the Shearwater reception or Ballinasloe Town Hall.
