One doesn’t usually associate traditional music sessions with libraries, but for the past three years Athlone Public Library has celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge and the traditional music heritage of Athlone by hosting a very successful ‘Seisiun sa Leabharlann’ during the month of March.
This year on Friday March 14 they will hold a special traditional session to mark both Seachtain na Gaeilge and St Patrick’s Day.
Instead of the usual quiet atmosphere in the library, at 3pm that afternoon local musician Ellen Costello and her friends will bring the library to life with a lively mix of music and song. All are welcome to share in this lovely event.
In addition, to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge there will be a special exhibition in the children’s library to highlight the exciting range of Irish language material available for younger readers.
