Athlone Towncentre has teamed up with Catwalk Modelling Agency and Tom Tailor Athlone to search for the next big thing in the Midlands.
Open casting sessions will be held on Monday May 2 from 2.30pm - 4.30pm and Saturday May 7 from 2-5pm in Athlone Towncentre. The panel of judges will be headed up by MD of Catwalk Modelling Agency, Mandy Maher, and former Miss Ireland model Linda Duffy.
The competition is open to both males and females, over 16, with no upper age limit applying. During the open casting days the panel of experts will be scouting the mall to find the Midlands Next Top Model.
A panel of semi-finalists will be chosen from the open casting session to go forward for public voting via the Athlone Towncentre’s Facebook page with the selected finalists competing in the grand finale which is part of the Athlone Towncentre Fashion Extravaganza, along with the professional team from Catwalk Modelling Agency on May 21. On that day there will be fashion showcases throughout the afternoon with the summer’s hottest looks from the top brands in Athlone Towncentre.
At last year’s Midlands Next Top Model event, Rebecca Frayne was selected as the overall winner from over 150 entries. Both Rebecca and the winner from the previous year, Mairin Feighery, have been modelling successfully with the Catwalk Modelling Agency since winning and are both regularly in demand for fashion shows, photocalls, and promotional events.
This year, there has been a public dimension added to the judging system. Following the casting sessions when the panel of semi-finalists has been selected, the public can vote for their favorite finalist by logging onto the Athlone Towncentre Facebook page and selecting their model of choice. The most successful candidate in the Facebook voting is automatically given a wild card entry into the grand finale.
The lucky winner will receive a 12-month contract with Catwalk Modelling Agency plus a €500 shopping spree in Athlone Towncentre and a €500 shopping spree in Tom Tailor Athlone. There will also be great runner-up prizes on offer on the day.
