Westmeath students enjoy Doodle 4 Google day out

Three Westmeath students were among 60 lucky students who travelled to Dublin’s Science Gallery to find out if their doodle had been selected by Google’s chief doodler as the overall winner of Google’s Irish Doodle 4 Google competition.

Kevin Stone from St Oliver PIunkett BNS, moate; Robyn Seery from Mercy School, Kilbeggan; and Caoimhe Walsh from Our Lady's Bower, Athlone all won awards and receivied framed copy of their doodles.

Google webmaster Mike Dutton travelled from the Google headquarters in California to select and announce Dublin’s Layla Karpuz, a senior infants student from Mary Mother of Hope Junior National School, Dublin 15, as overall winner of Ireland’s third annual Doodle 4 Google competition.

The 60 regional winners attending the event were given the opportunity to take part in creative art and doodle classes with Mike Dutton as well as a chance to take part in some amazing science experiments. Each student was also presented with a framed copy of their doodle and a Google goody bag.
