Athlone IT recruitment agency Solas IT Recruitment has raised €10,000 in donations to support the work of the Irish Kidney Association.

The agency team set about raising funds and awareness of the charity to celebrate the recovery of their colleague John Egan, who received a life-changing kidney transplant one year ago.

The team challenged themselves and their supporters to walk 123km in one month - the distance from Solas IT Recruitment’s Athlone office to their Dublin office. Colleagues, clients and recruitment candidates who have worked with John and the team joined in and soon they had reached their €10k goal.

Presenting Irish Kidney Association Chairman Eddie Flood and Secretary Cathy Smyth with a cheque for €10,000 in Athlone last week, Operations Director of Solas IT Recruitment Miriam Murphy said that the fundraising challenge was a personal one for the company.

“John is a key member of our team and he has handled the last few years like a champion,” Ms Murphy stated.

Solas IT Recruitment is a specialised IT recruitment agency with offices in Dublin and Athlone. John Egan is an Executive Recruitment Consultant at Solas IT, where he has worked for more than eight years, and formerly played GAA for Westmeath.

The Irish Kidney Association is an Irish charity dedicated to meeting the needs of kidney patients and those likely to be affected by kidney disease.
