Bastion Kitchen receives prestigious accolades at Irish Takeaway Awards

Synonymous with healthy and nutritious food, Bastion Kitchen, was to the awards fore at the recently hosted Irish Takeaway Awards which took place in the Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone.

Under the expert guidance of Ann Sheehy, the popular Bastion Street café, located on the west side of Athlone, was duly recognised for its nutrient and wholesome laden food fare, achieving three accolades during the awards ceremony.

Bastion Kitchen was the chosen All-Ireland winner in the ‘Healthy Takeaway of the Year’ category, complementing the cafe’s selection as Leinster winner in the same category earlier in the awards ceremony, while the cafe was also awarded the ‘Café Takeaway of the Year’ in Leinster.

“Food to go is one of the fastest growing sectors in the food service sector. Customer expectations are high and the modern Irish diner has a discerning palate. The standards that we encountered this year were incredibly high and the quality of food delivered was outstanding.

“We are lucky to have an extensive panel of researchers and every entrant to the awards was inspected by experienced judges. We would like to thank them and everyone who took part in this year’s programme,” Shane Smith, Managing Director of NI Media who host the awards, said.
