Boosted by the summer-esque weather conditions, a large crowd flocked to the Athlone Agri Show in Garnafailagh on Sunday last.

The perennially popular best in show classes boasted a wealth of entrants, as participants savoured a return to competition following a two year pandemic related lull.

Complemented by the food village, numerous exhibition stalls and children’s entertainment on offer, the occasion certainly had a community feel, chairperson, John Dolan, commending his colleagues on the committee for their organisational skills.

“It was great embrace a semblance of normality on Sunday last and I must compliment the work of the Athlone Agri Show committee who certainly ensured that the occasion was well received by all those who visited.

“Large numbers were in attendance during the event and the decision to host the show on a new site in Garnafailagh certainly swelled the attendance, the 38 acre site being an ideal location for the hosting of the Athlone Agri Show this year and hopefully in the times to come.

“There was a community ambience present during the course of the day, a real ‘feel good’ spirit and I wish to thank all those who attended and look forward to many more successful Athlone Agri Shows in future years,” Mr Dolan enthused.
