A perennially popular community occasion, athletic spirit will be to the fore in this Saturday morning, with the welcome return of the Clonowm 10 mile run which starts in the village at 11am.

Presented by Clonown Community Ltd, the run will commence in the village, before proceeding towards Creggan and on to Mike Kenny’s garage. Runners will then vere in the direction of Athlone on the old Ballinasloe Road before turning into Coologoriff. Passing through Coologoriff, participants will then return to Clonown on the final leg of their run.

The roads will not be closed, but road users are asked to avoid the route if possible between 11am and 1 pm. All profits accrued from the run will go towards Clonown Community Park. Online registration is available and full details are readily presented on the Facebook page ‘Athlone 10 mile run’.

Clonown Community Ltd would like to thank all race sponsors - James Naughton Car Sales, Kennedys Spar Express Monskland and Walsh’s Bar for their kind support.
