A dominant second half display ensured the Cill Óige U13 footballers achieved success in this Division 2 league final played on the vast green swathe of Fr O’Growney Park in Rosemount on Sunday evening.

Opponents, Killucan, held first half sway, leading at the interval by the minimum, but a skill laden second half display from the Castledaly/Rosemount combination club, complete with a more cohesive attitude saw the eventual winners emerge victorious with a 10 point winning margin (4-14 to 1-13 ).

Captain, Dara Deegan, sparkled beneath the summer sunshine and his drive positively impacted on his teammates all of whom raised their playing levels, particularly in the second half, ensuring celebrations for the South Westmeath club, formed in 2018.

The league title annexed, thoughts now turn towards championship fare and should a similar attitude prevail amongst players and management further silverware success may be achieved as the season progresses.
