Henshaw claims major personal accolade following influential rugby calendar year

The flourishing sporting career of Robbie Henshaw received further recognition on Friday last when the Coosan native was announced as the Zurich Irish rugby men’s ‘player of the year’ for 2021.

The inaugural occasion on which the former Buccaneer has achieved the accolade, Robbie has enjoyed a sterling calendar year on the rugby field, starring for Ireland during the Six Nations campaign while also starting al three tests matches on the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa.

Speaking following the award announcement Robbie stated that he was “hugely honoured” to win the accolade.

“The 2020/21 campaign will always stand out in my mind because of the circumstances under which we played were so unique.

“I am hugely honoured to win this award but I think the wider rugby community also deserve great credit for how they kept the show on the road and allowed my fellow nominees for this award and I the opportunity to go out and play for club and country,” Robbie enthused.
