Final 1916 commemorative event to be held in Moate

The Great Hall of Moate Community School will host the final event of the 1916 commemorative year on Sunday, April 23, at 7pm.

On what will be the eve of the 101st anniversary of the Rising, there will be a selection of great entertainment on offer.

This will include 200 musicians from Moate Community School Choir, RTÉ’s All Island School Choir winners, directed by Lorna Duignan; Donegal Youth Orchestra, winners of the IAYO Special Achievement Award for music in the community; County Roscommon Youth Orchestra, who commissioned Irishmen and Irishwomen, an orchestral suite in eight movements. Rathfarnham Concert Band; Moate Community School Orchestra in the second complete performance of Irishmen and Irishwomen; and composer of the piece, Vincent Kennedy.

Admission costs €5 and children go free.
