Communities and clubs called for Operation Transformation 2015

Mayo Sports Partnership is calling on communities and clubs across the county to help replicate the huge success of last year’s Operation Transformation programme, which encourages people across the county to start off the New Year by boosting their activity levels.

More than 25 groups in Mayo got involved in Operation Transformation last year, hosting walks, runs, and events in their localities, and organisers at Mayo Sports Partnership are hoping this year’s series will be even bigger and better.

The Mayo campaign is inspired by the hugely popular RTÉ show, Operation Transformation, which follows the progress of a group of individuals who are trying to change their unhealthy lifestyles by getting fit and active and following a healthy diet.

Mayo’s Operation Transformation is a five-week series and clubs and communities can team up with Mayo Sports Partnership to promote their events.

The sports partnership will provide leaflets, advertising, high viz vests, walking challenge cards, and walking leader training to the clubs and groups who sign-up for the challenge.

The campaign begins on January 17.

Five walks are taking place across Mayo on that day to help kick start the series, in Belmullet, Ballina, Castlebar, Claremorris, and Westport.

Operation Transformation will then culminate in a five kilometre fun run at each of those locations on February 21.

Mayo Sports Partnership is encouraging people to organise events in their own localities on January 17 as well.

Contact the partnership by Friday January 9, to have your Operation Transformation events advertised in local media and to avail of the free resources for participating groups.

Contact Anne Ronayne on (094 ) 9047025 to register your programme on the Operation Transformation Mayo calendar or email [email protected] before Friday, January 9.
