Easter is only a few days away, and traditionally roast lamb is served on Easter Sunday. This tradition goes back to a time before Easter, where a sacrificial lamb was roasted and eaten to celebrate the first Passover by the Jewish people. As Hebrews converted to Christianity, they brought their traditions with them. The Christians often reference Jesus as the Lamb of God, thus the traditions merged.

This week the Library Restaurant at Belleek Castle has picked up the award for Best Restaurant in Connacht at the Good Eating Guide Awards. Local chef Stephen Lenahan leads the kitchen team and his philosophy to use local and seasonal ingredients has proved successful and together with his talented team has won a large range of awards for their food over the last couple of years.

Local is key at The Chalet in Keel

Mayo Sports Partnership is pleased to launch details of its upcoming Special Participation Sports Investment Scheme for 2017. The scheme, supported by Sport Ireland, invites clubs and organizations who have sport/recreation as their central focus to submit proposals which would increase participation amongst target groups such as youth at risk, disadvantaged communities, unemployed, women, travelling community, middle aged men, disabilities and ethnic minorities. This may include setting up of new clubs or additional activities which would increase participation within existing organizations.
