Paper, Light, Shadow exhibition travels across Mayo

The exhibition entitled Paper, Light and Shadow will open in Claremorris Library on Wednesday evening. The artists of this travelling exhibition are a group of teenage Syrian refuges who recently resettled in Mayo.

For their fourth production, the society have picked a wonderful Christmas tale that is sure to delight audiences old and young. Davitt College presents Popstars – a show not to be missed

Davitt College’s annual musical production, Popstars, will be staged in the Joe Langan Sports Hall on the Davitt College campus. From Wednesday, November 22 to Friday, November 24, the sports hall in the school will be transformed into a theatre and auditorium by a professional company of outfitters, providing sound, lighting, and a purpose-built stage and sets. “In recent years we have played to capacity audiences each night,” said Bernie Rowland, principal, “and I expect this year will be no exception.”

The third annual One Act Drama Festival will take place in Ballina this weekend. From today, Friday, November 3, to Sunday, November 5, a number of drama groups will converge on the Ballina Arts Centre for a series of one act plays.

This festival has grown in popularity since its inception by Eugene Loftus in 2015 and together with his committee he looks forward to extending a warm Ballina welcome to new and returning patrons. Garrymore Drama Group presents Thy Will Be Done

The ever popular Garrymore Drama Group returns to Claremorris Town Hall with a cracking production of Michael Carey’s hit play Thy Will Be Done on Friday, November 17, at 8pm.

This is the story of two brothers, Jack and Peteen, who live side by side but have not spoken in 40 years, with home help, Bridie, acting as a go-between. Peteen’s has been a failed marriage, with his wife emigrating to America just before their son was born, never to return. When she dies in America, their son returns to Ireland and is torn between his love for his uncle and his respect for his father.
