IN GERMANY, just after The Great War, grieving Anna comes across a young Frenchman, Adrien, laying flowers at the grave of her fiancé Frantz.
This is German film Frantz (2016 ), which will be screened by the Galway Film Society in the Town Hall Theatre this Sunday at 8pm. Revealing himself to be an old friend of the deceased man, Adrien reignites an obsolete joy in Anna and the possibilities of life open up to her again. The Daily Telegraph called it director François Ozon’s "gripping homage to Hitchcock".
