West End Star comes to Galway to direct

Performing Arts School Galway (PASG ) has announced that Michael Southern, West End star, will be travelling to Galway to work with its students and direct Just the Ticket, which will take place in the Town Hall Theatre from November 23 to 25.

Southern played Sammy in The Blue Brothers on the West End for 10 years, before touring the UK on the national tour. On screen he has appeared in numerous short films, and also has feature film credits. Southern has delivered workshops across Europe and provides acting workshops in London’s Pineapple Studios.

In the past PASG has brought you traditional musicals such as The Addams Family, All Shock Up, Annie, and Oliver to name but a few. The school is always looking to provide students with a challenge and new experiences, so this year’s show is going to take another twist. The show, which promises to be one for all the family, will feature excerpts from your favourite musicals brought together for your entertainment.

Speaking about this opportunity Michael Southern stated: "I am really excited to work with PASG on this production. Having provided workshops for some of the students on their annual trip to London in 2015 and 2016, I know that they are all extremely professional and well trained. The show will definitely be great fun for both the cast and the audience."

PASG students are thrilled with the chance to learn from someone straight from the West End stage. It seems as if the new term just cannot come soon enough.

Paula McGurrell, PASG director, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to provide Galway students with this unique opportunity. What an amazing experience for anyone with a love for musical theater and in particular for anyone looking to make a career in the business."

Performing Arts School Galway has been providing exceptional training in dance, drama, musical theatre, singing, ballet, and more to Galway students since 1990. It currently provides a range of classes for students aged three to 21.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to work with a professional and to glean an insight into life on a West End stage. If you are aged between eight and 21 years, (or if you have a child who is ) and would like to join the school and take part in the show, contact the office on 091 516699 today.
