Two of Galway’s most experienced health and fitness professionals have teamed up to create an exercise class combining the best of fitness training and yoga. Personal trainer Sarah Thornton and yoga teacher Laragh Cunningham are behind Yo!Fit, a custom-designed programme they guarantee will switch on both body and soul.
Yo!Fit integrates strengthening, stretching, and high intensity interval cardio training, all with an emphasis on building self-awareness.“A few years ago I began exploring more cardiovascular fitness," said Laragh Cunningham. "While going to Sarah as a personal trainer, I found that doing yoga, cardio, and strength training on different days created a comprehensive fitness and wellbeing regime. I discussed this with Sarah and we both decided there was a need for a single training session combining all of those aspects for people who are 'time poor'... Yo!fit was born.”
“I was really excited when Laragh came to me with the idea,” Sarah Thornton added.“For busy people who find it hard to fit exercise, stretching, and wellbeing into their training programmes, Yo!Fit is just the class they need. Yo!Fit also makes sport-specific training much more effective.”
Yo!Fit also promotes a better mental attitude to exercise. Laragh Cunningham and Sarah Thornton both believe we need to be more aware when exercising, so they have included a mindfulness framework to their dynamic class.
Yo!Fit classes start next week in Ocean Fitness at the Salthill Hotel.
