Public lecture on Islam and democracy

Islam, Secularism, and Democracy is the title of a public lecture which will be given in NUI Galway on Monday February 17.

The talk, by the British Muslim intellectual, writer, and speaker Abdullah al Andalusi, will take place in the Colm Ó hEocha Theatre, Arts Millennium Building, NUIG, at 7pm.

Following the Arab Spring uprisings across north Africa from 2010, the demands for change in the political status quo across the Muslim world have grown, as have debates about the best way forward.

Mr Al Andalusi will discuss this along with matters of faith, secularism, and democratic politics at his talk. His work involves explaining and demonstrating, by rational argument, the intellectual proofs for the Islamic belief system.

Members of the public, as well as students, are welcome to the talk
