The final contract documents for the €3.4 million Ballinfoyle Neighbourhood Centre is due to be signed by Mayor Padraig Conneely at end of January.
Speaking this week, Cllr Conneely said: “This has been a long and protracted contract and I now sincerely hope that the necessary contract documents can be signed at end of January.
“This is a highly populated area of the city and a community neighbourhood centre is very necessary.”
According to Galway City Council, the contract will be with Purcell Construction Ltd which was found to be the “most economically advantageous tenderer”. The council is currently evaluating submissions to ensure satisfactory compliance with a number of pre contract conditions including: the provision of a performance bond, evidence of insurances required by the contract, tax clearance certification, a project specific health and safety plan, an updated programme and evidence that proposed specialist subcontractors meet the minimum criteria as set out in the works requirments for the contract.
