Galway hurlers and sponsors Supermac’s are inviting supporters to join them for a special Christmas fundraising lunch on December 23.

The lunch, which takes place in the Salthill Hotel, will raise funds for the Galway hurlers’ forthcoming trip to Dubai.

Fergal Moore, captain of the Galway team says the funds raised at the Supermac’s Galway Hurler’s Christmas Lunch will give them the opportunity to “get away together, relax and train in a different setting”.

“As a team we are very proud of the work we put in at training and on the pitch all year - although there was a certain amount of disappointment with the outcome on our second All-Ireland. Since then, we really haven’t been able to take time off as it’s been business as usual for most of us who are working full time or in college.”

Galway manager Anthony Cunningham, says he is proud of the team’s achievements this season and would love to see them get the chance to relax, take a break and enjoy what’s been a fantastic season.

“To facilitate this trip I know the appreciation of the Galway Hurling supporters will gather and contribute in a small way on the 23rd for what will be a lovely occasion and an opportunity to look back over the year had and set down new ambitions for the new year.”

The Supermac’s Galway Hurler’s Christmas Lunch will feature performers, dancers and musical entertainment beginning at 1pm. For further information telephone 085 861 4084 or visit supermacs.ie
