On the Wine Shelf...

Zonte’s Footstep Langhorne Creek 2011 (Independents, €14.99 )

New on the shelves this year, this Marsanne (52 per cent ) and Rousanne (48 per cent ) combination from the creek region of the same name in south Australia, has plenty of green apples with slightly peachy fruit on the nose. On the palate, the fruit is zingy and citrusy, the apples still green with a lightness to its structure that make it very easy to drink as it secures a satisfying finish. Overall, an excellent choice as an aperitif or with fried fish.
