Woman killed when car hits wall near Kiltormer

Gardai in Ballinasloe are investigating a single vehicle road traffic collision which claimed the life of the female driver yesterday morning.
The accident occured between 7.30am and 8am when the car collided with a wall at Newgate, Skycar, on the Kiltormer to Portumna/Laurencetown road.
It is understood that gardai, an ambulance, and two units of the fire brigade had rushed to the scene. The driver, a woman in her fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
The section of the road was sealed off to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out an examination with local diversions put in place. The stretch of road was re-opened later yesterday afternoon once the examination was completed.
