Galway look to back up opening day win
Galway’s Tara Rutledge celebrates after scoring her side's first goal that set her team on the way to an All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship round one victory over Offaly. Next up Galway will face Kilkenny in round two.
Galway camogie face a stiff test in the second round-robin championship fixture when they take on Kilkenny in Nowlan Park on Saturday (3.15pm).
They enjoyed a comprehensive 1-18 to 1-5 win over Offaly last weekend in the first round, and will be buoyed by that victory. However they now face a Kilkenny side which also enjoyed a winning start to their campgian, overcoming Dublin by 2 - 15 to 1 - 9.
The Kilkenny side featured six debutantes, including the new scoring sensation, 17 years-old Miriam Walsh who grabbed 1 - 4 from play on her debut. Kilkenny, renowned for its attacking threat, had posted 1 - 6 to 0-0 in the opening 10 minutes, and the Galway rearguard will need to be at their best on Saturday.
