Next week is all about consent here in University of Galway Students' Union.

Our annual Consent Week will kick-off on Monday, February 6th, with events ran in partnership with Active* Consent. We have got workshops, STI testing clinics, and of course the ever popular Sex Toy Bingo (which is, as usual, completely sold out ).

Active Consent* will be holding a workshop looking at digital intimacy, and our charity partners, Galway Rape Crisis Centre, have a Disclosure Training event to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to deal appropriately with a disclosure of sexual violence. We also have an art exhibition that will be running throughout the week, with some great prizes for those that submit pieces.

We have still got a long way to go in our society in terms of breaking down the taboo of talking about sex and consent, and it is only with events and initiatives like this that we can hope to do that. University of Galway have long been to the fore of the conversation nationally on this topic, with the fantastic Active* Consent programme, and their core message that consent is OMFG - Ongoing, Mutual, and Freely Given.

Make sure to keep an eye on our socials for the full details of the events, and get involved.
