Native Irish Oak saplings grown from acorns from Coolattin forest, nurtured by the staff of Coillte Nurseries were distributed to all of the award winning students of Kumon Galway City West at the recent 10th anniversary awards ceremony.

The Kumon Maths and English programmes aim to discover the potential of the student and develop their ability to the maximum in order to develop sound, capable individuals and thus contribute to the global community.

The oak saplings represent the potential emerging from the acorn and yet to become a great oak. They present another contribution to the welfare of the global community.

Sound, capable individuals were much in evidence. Hans Enrique Estremera received his completer award for completing the maths programme to university entry level in the year he finished his Junior Certificate. Sarah Tawfick and Abel Jeo received English completer awards before starting their Leaving Certificate programmes.

These completers, and Lexine Estremera, a former dual subject completer spoke eloquently about time management, commitment and the opportunities that studying with Kumon has created for them.

Committed students often find themselves working far ahead of their age. Stephen Murphy, a former English completer spoke of being able to partake in the wonderful programmes at the Centre for Talented Youth Ireland, having gained his silver medal in both subjects. (Silver medals are awarded to students working two or more years ahead of his age ).

The Kumon maths and English programmes stretch from preschool to university entry level, are completely individualised, and are suitable for students of all ages and abilities. If you would like a free trial for your child please contact [email protected] or Denise Heneghan at 086 8285780.
