New upgraded bus stop sign for Ballyloughane Road

Bus Éireann plans to upgrade more than a hundred bus stops around Galway City, to include real-time bus arrival information, Independent City Councillor Terry O’Flaherty has been informed.

The work of upgrading 105 city stops with the modern Transport for Ireland (TFI ) bus stop infrastructure will be undertaken in the coming weeks, the company has confirmed.

Cllr O’Flaherty said she was pleased to have it confirmed that the bus stop on Ballyloughane Road, which has been missing for a long time, is among those to be upgraded.

“Despite the removal of the bus stop sign several months ago however, people continue to wait for their bus at the stop location even though the stop sign had been removed.

“Thankfully, that problem will be resolved in the coming weeks when Bus Éireann say that a largescale bus stop infrastructure upgrade project has begun in Galway.

“I would urge the company to ensure, that the work should start with the missing stop sign on Ballyloughane Road — this project will take a number of weeks to complete and people in this area should not be left for any longer than necessary to have the new bus stop sign in place,” added Cllr O’Flaherty.
