Cheeseburgers revealed as Galway’s favourite street food

A recent survey by HelloFresh reveals that cheeseburgers are Galway's favourite street food. A whopping 41 per cent of the county selected the cheesy classic as their top choice.

Fried chicken was a close second, with 39 per cent of the vote, while tacos trailed at 19 per cent. These results reflect the vibrant street food scene that has blossomed across Galway in recent years, showcasing the city's growing love for international cuisine.

While we love street food and international cuisine, this fact hasn’t translated into our kitchens. In fact, the research uncovered that a massive 89 per cent of Irish people want to incorporate more international dishes into their dinner time, but lack the culinary confidence. Top reasons for avoiding more adventurous recipes are the perceived expense (45 per cent ), time constraints (40 per cent ), and lack of familiarity with international recipes (37 per cent ).

Nationally, the survey found that Ireland's top street food was fried chicken (36.18 per cent ), followed by cheeseburgers (34.91 per cent ) and tacos (28.91 per cent ).

Cost (45 per cent ), lack of knowledge (40 per cent ) and time (37 per cent ) were the main reasons given for not cooking international foods. Meanwhile 89 per cent said they would like more diverse cuisine for their dinner choices. Some 84 per cent of Irish people eat international cuisine for dinner at least once a week.
