RnaG50 concert in Conamara tomorrow as part of 50 year celebrations

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will be broadcasting a gala concert live from the Connemara Coast Hotel in Na Forbacha, tomorrow Friday 21 April at 7.30 pm as part of the station’s fifty year celebrations.

Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha, broadcaster, musician and Music Editor at the station, will present the evening which will feature artists from Conamara, Mayo and Ráth Cairn, Co. Meath and will also be streamed live online on the station’s Facebook page.

The lineup will include céilí band Cogar from Maigh Cuilinn, Cór Chois Fharraige, sisters Máire and Étáin Ní Churraoin from Ráth Cairn in Co. Meath, The Ó Ceannabháin family, Bríd Ní Mhaoilchiaráin who won Corn Uí Riada 2022, The Hernons, Caomhán Ó Flatharta, Pádraig Jack, Domhnall Ó Braonáin winner of Corn na bhFear 2022, Seán Ó hÉanaigh, Liz and Yvonne Kane, At the Racket, John Beag Ó Flatharta, musicians from Acaill in Co. Mayo – Diarmuid Gielty, John Twin and Ciarán Ó Máille, Johnny Óg Connolly, Seáinín Phat Mhyla, James Carty and Johnny Óg Connolly. The evening will include a special feature to honour the legendary Conamara band Na Cloigne Folmha, with Máirtín Beag Ó Gríofa, Patrick Connolly, Frankie Mac Aodha and Brian Terry Mac Donncha.

Caitlín Ní Chualáin, Programme Editor at Raidió na Gaeltachta, said they are really looking forward to this big celebration on Friday.

“It gives us a chance to pay homage to those who came before us and were part of the history of RnaG over the last fifty years, and to celebrate our unique culture.

“The lineup on the night will include both young and old, and we hope that it will be a memorable night for all those present, and for our listeners and home and our audience watching online,” she said.

Tickets for the RnaG50 concert can be won on RTÉ RnaG programmes this week. It will be broadcast live on Friday 21 April from 7.30 pm to 10 pm.
