Galway Community College students Kateryna Diachenko and Beatriz Viude Castanho engaged thoroughly with the Fastrack into Information Technology, FIT Choose Tech (the national coordinator of tech apprenticeships ) programme and embraced the resources provided on the learning platform to further their tech skills.

This opened an exciting opportunity for the students to be accepted onto the Fidelity Investments Ireland work experience programme, Root2STEM, which comprised an immersive in-office week of workshops and talks aimed at informing, educating, and encouraging young people to pursue a career in STEM.

Kateryna and Beatriz enjoyed a variety of workshops including coding, cybersecurity, 3D modelling, HTML/CSS web design, and the professional speakers on brand development, CV preparation, and the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The opportunity to work with a group of like-minded, enthusiastic, and creative students like themselves, has given them the motivation to take control of their career pathway and follow their dream, a fulfilling career in technology.
