Avon’s Arc Breast Cancer Crusade

Galway Avon rep doing her part for breast cancer services

Avon Ireland, which is celebrating 15 years of helping women look and feel great, needs your help to fund-raise for the Arc Breast Cancer Crusade.

“Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer,” says Maria Smyth an authorised Avon distributor in Galway, who has organised a very special draw which will take place at the end of this month with the lucky winner receiving a basket of Avon products worth more than €100.

All the proceeds will go to Avon’s Arc Breast Cancer Crusade which has already helped pay for two full-time staff nurses to counsel women affected by breast cancer. Maria hopes the fundraising efforts in Galway will help to employ a third nurse to carry out this much needed work.

“The thing that spurred me on is my cousin who has had a second operation for breast cancer. Her attitude is unbelievable, she’s an inspiration. It has made me more aware of what is going on with breast cancer.

“Avon is a company for woman. The campaign is worldwide and I want us to do our part so I decided to donate goods worth €100. Every penny I raise is going towards the crusade,” says Maria.

To help Maria in her fundraising efforts and hopefully get your hands on some amazing Avon products simply send a donation/entry fee of €5 with your name, address, and telephone number in an envelope to: Maria Smyth, Avon Distributor, Riverville, Craughwell, Co Galway. The closing date is Tuesday, April 28.

The draw will take place on Friday, May 1, and the winning ticket will be pulled and presented by local representative Lisa McCaffrey, a survivor of breast cancer. The winner will be notified by phone and a presentation will be held on Saturday, May 2, in The Racing Lodge. For more information telephone Maria Smyth on 087 2638414.
