Mayo hit for eight by Sligo Rovers

The Mayo League exited the EA Sports Cup at the first round stage on Tuesday night when they were thrashed 8-0 by League of Ireland Premier Division side Sligo Rovers in the Showgrounds. Owen Heary’s side progressed to the next round, thanks to the drubbing handed out to the Mayo League selection which included a hat-trick from youngster Liam Flatley.

Two day Ras Mhaigheo this weekend

Westport Covey Wheelers CC is holding the Ras Mhaigheo two day event this weekend, kicking off tomorrow, Saturday March 14, and continuing on Sunday March 15. The Ras Mhaigheo has evolved from a single day event to one of the most popular stage races in the west. Its success over the last few years has been confirmed with sell out numbers and large teams entering high profile riders.

This year the defending champions Lucan CC are back with a huge team of 12 riders, Local squads from Castlebar CC, Western Lakes CC, and the hosts Westport Coveys will do well to contain Orwell Wheelers, UCD CC, Nenagh, and Rossbury Racing who are all coming to Westport this weekend with their big hitters on board.
