Ballina Rugby Club bowed out of the All-Ireland Junior Cup at the last four stage in Meath last weekend.
Defending champions Ashbourne proved a step too far for the north Mayo side who succumbed to a 22-17 defeat following a bruising encounter.

Castlebar Mitchels renew acquaintances with Corofin in the Connachht Club final this Sunday in Tuam in what promises to be a mouth watering clash. Both teams know each other very well at this stage having crossed paths three times in the last number of years. Corofin needing extra-time last year to beat Castlebar in MacHale Park. Coincidently Mitchels have beaten the Galway kingpins twice in Tuam in what were rip-roaring encounters. Neither team seems to be at the level that they were a number of years ago, but they are still very evenly matched.

Galway champions Corofin will face off against Mayo champions Castlebar Mitchels this Sunday in what promises to be an intriguing Connacht senior club final in Tuam Stadium (2pm). Last year in the Connacht semi-final, Corofin beat Castlebar after extra-time in McHale Park before going on to defeat St Brigid's in the final.

Ballina Town and Manulla sit top of division one of the Masters League after an entertaining night in Solar 21 Park on Wednesday last. The night started with a rip roaring contest between local rivals Westport United and Fahy Rovers. United were ahead 1-0 at the break but found themselves 3-2 down midway through the second period. Late goals secured a 4-3 victory. David Cameron and Vinnie O’Malley each hit a double to give Westport their first win of the season. Tom Gill, Colin Napier and Guillame Vaidi hit the goals for Rovers.

Mustangs took to the court last Tuesday evening on their home turf in the newly lit up De La Salle Sports hall on their quest for win number six. They did not disappoint. Once again it was Ciara Griffin who was first out of the starting blocks, scoring the first basket of the game and getting the Mustangs underway on their mission.
