Councillors to be asked to approve €7.3 million airport loan

The executive of Mayo County Council will put forward a formal proposal to the elected members of the council this afternoon (Monday, April 13) for the council to take out a 30-year loan to cover the cost of buying a 17.5 per cent stake in Ireland West Airport Knock for €7.3 million, by seven local authorities.

Man in his 30s killed in single vehicle crash outside of Castlebar

Gardaí in Castlebar are this morning investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic ollision that left a man in his 30s dead. The collision happened on the main N5 road at the townland of Knockanour, Castlebar shortly before 7.30pm on Saturday evening.

Ballinrobe launches ambitious plan for €1.5 m town hall

A dedicated voluntary committee in Ballinrobe has launched an ambitious new plan to develop a €1.5 million state-of-the-art town hall facility for the town, complete with a 408-seat auditorium.

The community’s former town hall, constructed in 1886 at the corner of the Cornmarket, fell into disrepair in the 1990s and was eventually demolished in 1999 for safety reasons.
