New security equipment for Knock Airport

Ireland West Airport Knock is to upgrade security measures with two new devices to detect explosives and a new security scanner.

The aiport has been granted almost €250,000 for the explosive trace detection equipment and the scanner from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.

Minister of State Michael Ring, with reponsibility for tourism and sport, welcomed the allocation.

“Ireland West Airport Knock had an excellent year last year and I have no doubt it will have another outstanding year in 2015,” said Minister Ring.

“It is my belief that the funding will be welcomed by all that use the airport.”
